A training facility for community “champions” in content development, learning support and guidance.

An evaluation/best practice dissemination service for content integration tools and learning environments.

Conducts baseline research into how “next generation” e-learning can benefit disadvantaged communities.

Provides managed workspace for collaborative projects principally with FE/HE in the area of community e-learning.

Giving the lead to music through a music technology suite. This includes a digital recording studio and an associated business centre for music and the performing arts.

On offer, to its most immediate catchment area will be Key skills for Employability support.

The way in which Menzies CLC will contribute to CHOKE is in two ways. Firstly we will offer a range of computer based courses and media courses to enable the local community to learn new skills and get back into education. We have planned website development, animation, digital photography, digital music editing, video editing and ECDL.

Specialists in the use of authoring tools that enable those directly involved with learners and learners themselves to engage in the creation of content without recourse to the high level programming skills.

The college's modern language expertise is deployed in work with ethnic minority communities both in language skills development and supporting the development of learning content in mother tongues.

The Smethwick Grid for Learning provides fully equipped Community Premises and contributes significantly to the development of the Talent Pool of Community authors working with and through 7 Faith Groups and creating content in at least 4 languages (Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali and Hindi) which include Basic skills, local history, guidance services and personal finance
