Whiteboard resources for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2

WMnet, the regional broadband consortium, has negotiated a 12 month subscription for all regional schools to iboard's online club.

The topics can viewed by year group or curriculum subject. Each topic has several activities. Teaching objectives are explained and guidance on each screen helps users to know what to do. There are currently 41 topics across the age range.

Sandwell schools can access it through this link.

The British Pathe news archive has been available to schools for some time. If you haven't discovered this rich resource then go to www.britishpathe.com

3,500 hours of film and 12,000,000 stills are now available in their high-resolution, editable versions. The archive records 75 years of change from the death of Victoria to the birth of space travel. Society, culture, economics, politics and war are recorded with national and international stories appearing alongside regional and local news items and with reviews and documentary features appearing alongside clips of unpublished film – a unique opportunity for teachers and students alike to enhance teaching and learning across the curriculum.

Sound files for use in all sorts of curriculum areas are available from Audio Network.

http://audio.lgfl.org.uk/

The Regional Broadband Consortia's licence with Audio Network allows teachers and students to download any of the music files free of charge with only two conditions: users must be on a machine connected to the local RBC to get free downloads and the downloaded files must not be used for any commercial purposes. The RBC licence will save your school an average of £60 for each downloaded file.
